Noisy, raucous taproom with lots of activity. The look of a dive bar, but with the vibe of being a good place to drink beer. Somewhat hard to find, building is set back from the street in a residential neighborhood. Eleven beers were on tap when we visited.
BEER:
Funky Ass Saison (3.25) – Light and slightly fruity. Low level of bitterness, as expected. Somewhat bland and nondescript flavor profile. Might mistake it for a hoppy golden ale.
Kölsch (4.25) – Bright and crisp German ale. Hint of hop bitterness in the finish, as appropriate. Medium body.
Lab Experiment Hazy IPA (4.50) – Extremely hazy, opaque appearance. Bouquet filled myriad of aromas; a sensual delight. Hop bitterness balanced well with malt sweetness. Terrific example of style.
Roasted Chocolate Oatmeal Stout (2.00) – Rather thin body. Neither chocolate nor oatmeal aspects very prominent. Roasted malt notes are present, but this beer is starving for more of it. A strange off-flavor component kills this beer.
