This is a chain with 34 restaurants in 14 states. They are described as “a polished casual American restaurant featuring fresh, high-quality menu items prepared from made-from-scratch recipes.”

We have visited the Schaumburg, IL location several times; this was our first visit to the one in Madison. The décor is modern with wood and marble accents. They typically have five signature beers, a seasonal, plus guest beers on tap.

BEER:
The Northern American Lager (3.75) – Pale golden color; mild, crisp with low bitterness.
The Bennie German Bock (4.00) – Malty, nutty sweetness and subtle hints of caramel.
Broad Axe Oatmeal Stout (4.00) – Roasted character, rich and creamy with hints of chocolate and coffee.

FOOD:
They offer a wide variety of menu options, separated into the following categories: Flatbreads and Starters, Soups and Salads, Steaks and Classics, Seafood and Pasta, Burgers and Sandwiches.

We recommend the Blackened Salmon Salad (fresh mixed greens, red onions, grape tomatoes, cucumber, bleu cheese, and candied pecans tossed in a citrus vinaigrette, then topped with hand-cut fresh blackened Atlantic salmon), and the lean Bison Burger (topped with pepper jack cheese and tarragon mayo on a pretzel bun, and served with lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles).
