The atmosphere is German beer hall, both in the massive taproom and in the even more massive outdoor Biergarten. There were eight beers beers on tap when we were there. The menu does not fool around, this place is all about German beer styles.

BEER:
Captain Jack Pilsner (4.25) – Smooth, crisp pilsner with a wonderful hop bite. Medium-bodied, which is nice, but a bit more pale malt wouldn’t hurt.

Kellerbier (3.25) – Slightly hazy straw color. Malty and hoppy at the same time. Some fruity aspects, which are not appropriate for style.

Munzler’s Vienna Lager (4.25) – Amber lager, with malty sweetness upfront. Roasted and caramel notes right in line with this style. Lightly hopped, finely balanced. An uptick in the grain bill would make a very good beer great.

Copper Altbier (3.75) – Deep amber-colored German ale. A bit thin body-wise, but a good representation of the style. Somewhat aggressively hopped, but it’s all well balanced.

Berliner Weiss (5.00) – Light, tart, refreshing. Everything a Berliner Weisse should be. Hits the bullseye.

Fat Boy Baltic Porter (5.00) – Rich, dark, and roasty. Each gulp is smooth as silk. Complex flavor profile, with fruity notes. Low level of hop bitterness, just right.
