One of our favorite breweries in Milwaukee. We’ve been coming here for years, and have gone on the tour multiple times because it’s so much fun. The tour guides are extremely enthusiastic, especially when the tour is conducted by one of the Klisch brothers, who founded Lakefront. One of the first brewery tours we’d been on where they allowed you to drink beer before, during and after the tour. Large beer hall space, tall ceilings, brick walls, communal tables. Located right on the riverfront, with a patio in the back.

On our recent visit, they had 12 beers on tap. They are also one of the first breweries in the country to feature organic and gluten free beers.

BEER:
Big Easy Imperial Maibock (3.50) – High ABV level overpowers malty character.
Organic White (5.00) – Outstanding example of the classic Belgian Witbier.
Klisch Czech Style Pilsner (3.00) – Medium body, medium bitterness, highly drinkable; lacks bitter aftertaste of a true Czech pilsner.
Eastside Dark Munich Dunkel (4.25) – Sweet and roasted flavor, beautifully smooth and drinkable, not at all intimidating.
Howard Helles (3.50)– Low on malt flavor, definite lawnmower beer, not the best example of a Helles.
Fuel Cafe Organic Stout (NR) – Excellent, inviting aroma, full bodied, roasted malt in full evidence.

FOOD:
We’ve seen the brewery transform from a basic beer hall, where beer was only available with the tokens that you’d receive on a tour. Then they became popular for their Friday night fish fry. Now they serve a variety of basic bar food all the time (counter service) and all the beer is available for purchase at the bar.

Some options are salads, sandwiches, tacos, pretzels, cheese and wurst boards, as well as desserts.
