The brewing operation butts up against the dining room in this comfortably sized brewpub. Small, but useful food menu. There are pinball machines available for gaming enthusiasts. There were 11 beers on tap when we visited.
BEER:
Boonenburg Brown Ale (3.50) – Dark brown appearance. Malt sweetness dominates. Contribution of hop bitterness to the flavor profile is too large, borderline objectionable. Although malty sweetness is the big player here, the hop level upsets the balance.
Col de la Tortuga Amber Lager (5.00) – Dark amber appearance. Big and bold malty character. Caramel notes prominent. Hop bitterness somewhat subdued and balances nicely with malt sweetness. Described as a Mexican amber lager, but this beer might trend towards a proper Vienna Lager.
Intermingling Kolsch (4.00) – Golden, straw appearance. Light bodied German ale. Crisp, refreshing, and drinkable. Hop bitterness dances in the background, but does not linger significantly. Decent example of style.
Powerline Coffee Porter (4.25) – Very dark brown appearance, nearly opaque. Coffee aspects create a complex flavor profile. Perhaps a tad excessive. Chocolate also detected. Roasted character a key player in this style. Hop bitterness sits deep in the background.
