The tasting room has a casual, spartan appearance, with a small bar as well as picnic tables, and an outdoor deck. The location is perfect, right next to a golf course. It’s bright and airy due to a skylight.
It’s very kid-friendly; we saw several small children when we were there. The brewmaster focuses on Belgian-inspired ales. There were eight on tap during our visit, plus two non-alcoholic drinks, root beer and nitro-iced coffee.
BEER
Cartwheeler Altbier (4.50) – Excellent example of style, outstanding balance of maltiness and bitterness
Chicora English Mild (4.25) – Smooth English ale with no harsh flavors, medium body, medium hop bitterness; excellent example of style
Parade of Giants Belgian Dubbel (4.00) – Bold, malty and sweet, smooth as silk; 7.2% ABV cleverly hidden
Old Shuck Porter (4.50) – Wonderful, full-bodied, highly roasted malt flavor
Conjurer Belgian Golden Strong (4.50) – Outstanding example of style, excellent malt character, balanced front to back
FOOD
Complimentary peanut butter-stuffed pretzels were served. They had a variety of other snacks as well. They are next to the North Shore Inn, known for excellent burgers.
