The restaurant has a modern feel even though the décor is retro. The tables were spaced far enough apart where we didn’t feel cramped. The noise level was perfect for conversation. Enjoyable, mixed retro music.
Our server was very helpful and knowledgeable about the beers, making recommendations and bringing several samples before we made our decisions.
BEER:
Whippoorwill Belgian Style Wit (3.50) – Fruity, coriander evident, perhaps too much body.
Sister Golden Ale Kölsch (3.50) – A bit thin body for the style; bland, lacks adventure; more like a golden ale than a Kölsch.
Sister Golden Ale Kölsch (4.00) – Updated review! Apparent recipe change resulted in a beer closer to a traditional Kölsch. Crisp flavor, bigger reliance on malt character. Nice bite of hop bitterness.
Maltiplicity Maibock (4.50) – Sweet, malty flavor, excellent example of style; decent hit of alcohol.
Scaredy Cat Oatmeal Stout (4.50) – Malty, roasted flavor, slight oatmeal quality, slightly dry aftertaste.
Dedication Belgian Dubbel (4.50) – Sweet and malty, hard alcohol kick.
Summer Sahti Farmhouse Style Ale (3.75) – Medium body, low bitterness, grapefruit overtones.
Dedication Belgian Dubbel (3.25) – Plum and fruity aspects front and center. Acidity from the fruit leads to some harsher aftertaste. Solid malt character. Hop bitterness hard to detect.
FOOD:
We tried simple menu items, such as a Chicken Bacon Ranch wrap, Build Your Own Burger, Flatbread, and Caesar Salad. They have a good variety of options on the menu, and everything was delicious. Highly recommended!
