Large, lively taproom. A comfortable vibe permeates the entire room. You can sit at tall tables, regular tables, different chairs and couches.
There were 18 beers on tap when we visited. They also serve wine for those who don’t prefer beer.
BEER:
Batavia Helles Lager (4.50) – Straw, golden appearance. Medium-bodied lager, crisp flavor. Nice amount of hop bitterness, properly balanced for style. A beer made for extended sampling.
Berliner Weisse (5.00) – Straw yellow appearance. Light-bodied and very smooth. Sour and tart aspects dominate, just enough to induce a pucker reaction. Hop bitterness nonexistent. Outstanding example of style.
Little Town Brown Ale (4.00) – Amber appearance. Malty, roasted character dominates flavor profile. Caramel notes contribute heavily. Bitterness level slightly higher than expected, but not out of line.
Paddlewheel Porter (4.50) – Very dark brown color, nearly opaque. Full-bodied porter, with chocolate, coffee, and vanilla notes. Big, sweet and malty. Hop bitterness hidden in the background, but displays a good balance. Smooth as silk and highly drinkable.
Pitchside ESB (5.00) – Light amber color. Medium-bodied English Ale. Big and malty mouthfeel. Caramel malt character present. Complex flavor profile is a party in the mouth. Hop bitterness well balanced. Highly drinkable. Outstanding example of style.
Riverview Kölsch (4.75) – Light, golden appearance. Light-bodied German ale. Hop bitterness is a small player, as expected. Beautifully smooth and crisp. Excellent example of style.
