Light the Lamp Brewery Grayslake, IL
Founded: 2012
Website
Last visited: September 2018
We visited the small taproom in downtown Grayslake, but they will soon open a larger brewery just down the street, allowing them to double their capacity.
Hours are: Mon-Thur: 5pm-10pm, Fri: 4pm-Midnight, Sat: Noon-Midnight, Sun: Noon-6pm.
We met Adam, the assistant brewer, who was very friendly and knowledgeable. They had six beers on tap.
BEER:
Lite It Cream Ale - 3.50
Super light-bodied beer; almost no hop bitterness
Still Single Belgian Ale - 4.00
Medium-bodied ale; citra hops assist in balancing the flavor profile
Mo-Wheat Wheat Ale - 4.25
Medium-bodied, big on wheat malt; slight hop bitterness provides nice balance
Short Handed New England IPA - 3.75
Nicely balanced IPA (50 IBU), Highly drinkable
Tamarand Gold Belgian Tripel - 4.50
Big-bodied and bold tripel; excellent example of the style
Sin Bin Stout - 4.25
Bold with coffee notes; body is a mouthful
