Michigan City’s oldest microbrewery. Lots of wood and brick décor. The bar top looks like it was carved out of a tree trunk. Nice outdoor deck.
Open daily, from 11am Sat and Sun, Noon Mon-Fri. They had six house beers and 18 guest taps.
BEER:
Golden Grain Cream Ale (3.25) – Super light, low bitterness level; very typical cream ale character.
Carriage House Double IPA (2.75) – Malty, bready mouthfeel; hop level quite high, lingers in aftertaste.
Red Devil IPA (2.00) – Evidence of roasted malt; balance shifts too far towards bitterness and hop character.
Elston Grove Oatmeal Stout (4.00) – Bold and malty stout; distinctive dry aftertaste.
York Street English Brown Ale (4.50) – Massive roasted malt character; excellent balance between malt sweetness and hop bitterness.
