We were looking for a new place to visit near our hotel in Glendale, and were pleasantly surprised to find this German Beer Hall that had just opened. The interior is reminiscent of a place you might find in Munich, with long communal tables and live entertainment. They also have a beautiful outdoor patio.

They run one of the largest Biergartens in Wisconsin and are best known for hosting the longest running Oktoberfest in the Milwaukee area. They plan to continue the Oktoberfest tradition along with new festivals and events. Experience German Biergarten style service with walk-up lines for great German wursts, grilled chicken and steins of beer. On this visit, they had six house beers on tap. We highly recommend the Bavarian Bierhaus the next time you’re in the Milwaukee area.

BEER
Helles (4.50) – Excellent example of the style; medium body, low bitterness, slightly sweet malty flavor
Dunkel (3.75) – Incorrectly described as a Dunkel; it is actually a Dunkel Weizen. Good balance of wheat and dark malts. Per George, “It’s the first Dunkel Weizen that I ever liked.”
Zwickelbier (4.50) – Medium body, malty, yeasty flavor, excellent example of style

FOOD
They have a good variety of appetizers (including Bavarian Pretzels served with their signature Bier Cheese Dip), salads, soups, sandwiches, burgers, and classic German entrees. They have three fish entrees as well as a veggie burger for anyone looking for meatless options.

On our last visit, we shared the Wurst Sampler, (five different sausages topped with a generous amount of caramelized onions and sauerkraut, served with mini pickles, mustard and cheese sauce), and the potato pancakes, (three large pancakes, crispy, yet medium thickness, served with sour cream and applesauce). The food was hearty and delicious, and very filling. It would have been plenty for a larger group to share.
