Small, old fashioned pub, with a long wooden bar and a few tables, plus a patio in the back. They’re located in a prime spot on State Street in downtown Geneva.
We didn’t eat on this visit, so our review is based solely on the quality of the beer. They had 12 beers on tap plus a seasonal. Beer is not distributed outside of the pub.
BEER:
State Street Pilsner - Light bodied, crisp flavor; objectionable aftertaste - 2.75
Kolsch Seasonal - Smooth, refreshing German ale; low bitterness, true to style - 3.50
Older But Weisser - Poor example of a witbier; body is not light enough, strange aftertaste (brew kettle not clean?) - 2.50
Third Street Ale - Very thin body, lacks the complexity of a traditional Belgian brown - 2.00
Geneva Pale Ale - Refreshing citrus flavor, bitterness kept in check, very tasty! - 3.75
Doc’s Porter - Way too thin for the style; lacks robust, coffee notes and roasty flavor; Disappointing! :-(
FOOD:
They have a full menu featuring comfort food: Appetizers, salads, soups, burgers, sandwiches, wraps and croissants, pastas, entrees and desserts. They also have monthly specials, Sunday brunch, and beer dinners. They pride themselves on serving freshly prepared food with the highest quality ingredients. Food reviews on Yelp are basically good, beer not so much!
